Is this an official game? Are you working with Massif Press?
Nope!
The Lancer RPG has one of the most open third-party licenses in the biz, so we’re able to do this as basically a glorified fan-game. I’m being very careful to not use assets I don’t have permission for, and we’ve gotten the thumbs-up unofficially.
You can read Lancer’s third-party license here: https://massifpress.com/legal

Is this a virtual table top (VTT)? Can I use this to play irl campaigns with friends?
Nope!
Making a game be multiplayer is a huge chunk of work and we already have a lot to chew on with the adaptation alone. This project is scoped to be single-player only.
I could see a world where we do an extended edition or something that lets you do local multiplayer at least, but I’m being careful not to make too many promises here.

Can I get the Squad tier, but have the three coins mailed to separate addresses?
Alas, I don’t think I can do this. Half of the reason I’m doing Squad is to simplify shipping; needing to handle a bunch of special cases when fulfillment time comes around will be a Bad Time for me. I’ll post an update if this changes. UPDATE: Due to the higher-than-expected demand for these, it definitely won’t be feasible to handle a lot of special cases, so I’m updating this answer to be a solid “Sorry, no.”

When are the rewards going to ship? I'll be changing addresses before September 2024.
The delivery date of September 2024 refers primarily to the deadline for finishing the bones of the game itself; I’ll be starting the work of fulfilling all physical orders in the months immediately following the campaign, so receiving your stickers/coins before the end of this year is very likely.
Additionally, we’ll be using the Backerkit pledge manager which allows you to update your address freely. We’ll also be sending out reminders to double-check and addresses in the weeks before we start shipping, so as long as you keep an eye on your email we’ll be able to get your stuff mailed to the right place.

How will custom name + callsigns work for the Veteran tier+? There's going to be a lot of them!
All submitted names + callsigns will go into a spreadsheet, possibly categorized by role (Striker, Defender, etc). When the game spawns a non-story-essential enemy with the Veteran template or 2+ structure, it will randomly pull from that spreadsheet to play a boss-subtitles animation. There’s no custom dialogue lines or anything, which will mean the only manual work we’ll have to do is filter them for taste + not infringing on other people’s IP.

Is this going to be ported to consoles? Switch?
Nope!
We don’t have any console releases for this project on the books — or even a steam release, to be honest. As you may have gathered from the other answers, we are being extremely careful about limiting scope and a console release is too big a chunk of work for the resources we are going to have available.
That said, I have some preliminary reports that the demo works fairly well on Steam Deck with this config: “what i did was i set up the gamepad so that the pad was WASD and the right stick was also wasd. Then A was Left Click, B was right click and the left stick controlled the mouse.”
Better dedicated gamepad support is on my the nice-to-have list, but no promises.

Why square grid? Are you planning to do hexes?
For the demo, I’ve been working on a shoestring budget with asset packs from itch.io and Pita’s excellent overworld tileset (https://pita.itch.io/rpg-overworld-tileset) was the best match in scale and content for Blobertson’s mech asset pack and Viridian. I also wanted to get an MVP out asap without paying the technical Hex Tax.
So: hexes are a possibility that we’re going to discuss once we know what kind of budget we’ll be working with, but no promises. Lancer was originally designed to be played on a square grid, anyway; you can see artifacts left from that history in systems the the Black Witch’s perimeter command plat.

Any ideas on what mechs/talents you'll have at the start?
The rate of implementing content and choice of WHICH content to implement is actually a really interesting tightrope; I need to do enough to see what the engine needs to accommodate, but the more I do the more I need to maintain/update as the engine evolves.
So: it’s going to be by feel. Anything that’s extreme in some parameter is a likely early pick, e.g. Barbarossa to make sure size 3 mechs work correctly.

Are you going to support mods? It would be great to be able to make our own frames/weapons/npcs/mechanics!
Here’s the story: mod support was a stretch goal until the day before the campaign when we got 800 notification signups and I got spooked and went over every stretch goal with a microscope to be absolutely sure we could do them. Since I have never shipped a game in the Godot engine so have not dealt with integrating user-generated content, I did not feel confident enough to commit to being on the hook for that.
So: it’s on the unofficial wishlist, but no promises.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
